Cattle U is a new program modeled after High Plains Journal’s successful series of educational events. Targeted to cattleman, this paid event will provide educational sessions designed to help cattle producers elevate their knowledge, as well as connect with fellow producers and cattle industry companies. Dodge City Public Library – 1001 N. 2nd Ave.
Explore the artists, meaning and stories behind the state’s rich collection of public murals. From the iconic John Steuart Curry murals in the Kansas Statehouse, to the post office murals of the New Deal and the many murals done by townspeople across the state, these works tell us much about the people involved. Led by muralist Dave Loewenstein, this presentation explores history through a new lens and examines the organizational and technical efforts that go into capturing a community’s story in public art. Dave is an artist and co-author of Kansas Murals: A Traveler’s Guide.

Dodge City RoundUp PRCA Rodeo – a ProRodeo Tour Rodeo/ Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame Rodeo is one of the highlights of the entire festival. Five nights of nonstop action makes the rodeo the place to be! PRCA Clown Barrelman, “Backflip” Johnny Dudley, and specialty act Thomàs Garcilazo, award-winning charro roper, will entertain you each night throughout the rodeo.  The Kid’s Boot Scramble we be held nightly and is sponsored by First Christian Church of Dodge City. Sonic Mutton Bustin’ qualifiers will be competing nightly with the finals Sunday night. Tickets purchased in advance run from $17.00 to $31.00 Wednesday and Thursday, and $20.00 to $34.00 Friday through Sunday. All tickets are $3.00 more on the day of the event. Browse the many vendor booths before the rodeo and enjoy live musical entertainment before and after the rodeo nightly!
