HARVEY GIRLS: WOMEN’S ROLES IN RAILROADS, KANSAS, AND U.S. HISTORY

  • El Vaquero Room - Santa Fe Depot 101 East Wyatt Earp Boulevard Dodge City, KS, 67801 United States (map)

Dr. Reay will present a 60-minute Kansas Humanities program exploring the Harvey Girls, Fred Harvey, and the important role women played in railroad history. The Santa Fe Depot was once home to a Harvey House, where Harvey Girls followed strict standards of service and helped shape Dodge City’s connection to the railroad. This free public presentation will offer locals and visitors a deeper look at Dodge City’s history and heritage as part of the Dodge City Days celebration. Refreshments will be available.
